Gerry Egan MA, MBACP (Accred.) UKCP Reg.

I have a Masters Degree in Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling from the University of Hertfordshire, and a Post-graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CYP-IAPT) from University College London/Kings College London. have undertaken training in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (NHS), Couples Counselling at the Centre for Counselling & Psychotherapy Education, London, and EMDR at the EMDR Association UK. I also hold a Diploma in Clinical Supervision. I am a trained bereavement counsellor, and have worked voluntarily for a number of organisations including Cruse Bereavement Care, Samaritans and Crisis. My counselling experience has been gained working in both primary and secondary schools, and with adults within the criminal justice system. Previously, I had a long career in the public sector as a manager, focusing on work to safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults. I also trained as a work place mediator. Currently, I work as a counsellor/psychotherapist and supervisor within the NHS and in private practice.

I am an accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a UK Council for Psychotherapy Registered Psychotherapist (UKCP). I abide by their Codes of Ethics and Practice. My work is supervised according to BACP/UKCP guidelines, and I am committed to on-going continuing personal development and training.

Confidentiality

As your counsellor, whatever personal information you discuss with me remains confidential. The only exceptions to this are in circumstances set out in the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Code of Ethics i.e., where you or someone else may be at risk of serious harm, or if the counsellor is required to do so by a court of law.
